Scanbox Entertainment

With Dynamicweb, Scanbox has built up an intranet with personal webpages for each employee, so information can be found where it is needed.

“My overall objective as far as IT is concerned is to get information out to the places it is needed. In other words, on the internet. We are eager to enhance the efficiency of our internal processes so our employees do not have to waste time and money looking for information, thus hopefully we will also be able to apply this system to boosting our bottom line through decreases in costs and increased earnings.”

This is how IT Manager Stephen Lowe describes the needs which the Dynamicweb internet solution fulfils at Scanbox. The internet is becoming increasingly important to the company, which is Scandinavia's largest distributor of video and DVD films.

A question of timing
The website went on the air at the end of August 2005, and the system has lived up to the IT manager's expectations. The next step will be to build up an internal portal. Stephen Lowe and his IT team are ready to take the step, but are nevertheless holding back a little.

“When you implement new solutions correct timing is always the biggest challenge. When should we present it? How much can people take in? Changes are always good for an organisation, but the tempo can also be too high,” Stephen Lowe believes.

The same also applies to external collaborative partners, where according to the IT manager Scanbox can do more than either customers or suppliers require.

Intranet boosts understanding
Scanbox has some 140 IT users in Scandinavia, and each one has his or her own webpage on the intranet.

“We have very much personalised the solution, otherwise in my opinion the idea goes by the board. It's all about getting the right information out to the right person. There's no point in drenching people in irrelevant information, but we do have to find a balance so that they are also aware of what is going on in other departments. Moreover, we are also eager to render visible to employees their significance in the chain, thus increasing their understanding for the business,” comments Stephen Lowe.

“Everything has gone as it should. Columbus is a highly professional company, which has its finger on the pulse,” says Stephen Lowes in summing up.
