User-friendliness is the password in the ERP solution used by 250 employees at DELTA for their customer projects.

DELTA is an Approved Technological Service Institute, which carries out testing in such areas as light, audio, acoustics and electronics for Danish and international customers. Each assignment is an independent project, and DELTA must be able to precisely account for the resources used in each individual project.

Therefore it is also essential that it is simple for employees to enter their time consumption, travel bills, etc. Until now this has been done using a web-based solution, which also integrates a production completion report module.

Employee portal
“Our company works in an extremely goal-oriented manner and together with Columbus IT Partner we have now developed an employee portal. The opening page will provide employees easy access to these modules along with five new key performance indicators, travel and subsistence payments, HR with master data which employees can themselves alter, a CV module which enables users to rapidly check where expertise lies in the company and a module for invoice approvals," says Thorbjørn Djuraas, ERP & Process Manager at DELTA.

“Our users avoid having to deal with all sorts of different applications. The point of departure in designing the solution was that users should find it smart and easy to use,” says Thorbjørn Djuraas.

More a partner than a supplier
Columbus became a collaborative partner in 2004, when our previous supplier closed.

“That's the risk you face with small suppliers, and therefore a large supplier was a priority this time round. We have a number of long-term projects we need to get started on, so it is a question of having sustainable collaboration."

"In my eyes, we work together in a way that makes Columbus more of a partner than a supplier. They are good at informing us of needs we did not know we had – e.g. regarding electronic invoicing to the public sector."

"They also have a package solution, whereby we can have the whole of the company's IT examined. By virtue of its comprehensive knowledge of both software and hardware Columbus covers every aspect of IT, its knowledge not confined to Axapta alone. This is an extremely useful service,” says Thorbjørn Djuraas.
