The project was run by a team consisting of representatives from DIXI's management and specialists from Columbus IT. Working closely together the team achieved some very valuable results. For example the time needed to process the daily sales was reduced by 90%. All user interfaces were upgraded and optimized thereby increasing ease of operation and reducing the possibility of errors due to user confusion.
Remote integration
Retail is by definition a high velocity business and the need for updated, reliable information as a means to make the right decisions is determines the retailers' competitive edge. With Microsoft Dynamics AX came the ability (via OLAP) to access and analyze managerial, financial and marketing information very swiftly. The solution also support other form of rapid data exchange through networks, dedicated communication lines, modems, magnetic, optical and digital media.
Smooth ordering
An aggregate planning mechanism was implemented to let DIXI automate the process of replenishing stocks in the supermarkets as well as in their distribution center. Based on information received from the supermarkets new orders are generated automatically and sent to the distribution center for fulfillment. If new stock needs to be delivered from DIXI's suppliers the system automatically generate orders for new external deliveries. This feature optimizes the warehouse efficiency and reduces the overall levels of stocks in the warehouses. It also reduces the risk of stock-outs and drastically cuts the manual work needed for creating, sending and checking orders.

DIXI has many employees and managing salaries, pensions etc. is a time consuming task for the administration. The Micorosoft Dynamics AX solution has also automated many of the processes concerning the employees and the reporting of taxes and other information to governmental institutions. The result is more time to focus on developing DIXI's core business and less time to manage the day-to-day operations.
